“Better get into character”

mooitstimdrake sent: How do you feel about season 2?

It really took awhile for me to warm up to Invasion. There are so many changes and things that are frustrating to me…like how they’re only explaining what happened in the five years through Legacy. That annoys me. I would do anything for there to be a season three where they’d go through the timeskip. The introduction of Blue Beetle, Beast Boy, the official breakup of Supermartian, Dick deciding to become Nightwing, Kid Flash officially quitting the team, not to mention Tula’s death and Aqualad’s “turn to the evil side”..there are so many MONUMENTAL moments that happened during this time skip. And something that YJ has done consistantly is starting out with the climax and then going backward and explaining it while you, the watcher, already knows and understands the outcome. I’m just hoping they’d do something like that but I’m almost positive they won’t. And that’s frustrating. All I can hope is that Legacy is a decent game (looked a little shady from the trial vids that were out at E3…) and takes the time to explain each of those moments (though I doubt it).

So, with that initial frustration/anger out of the way, I’m enjoying Invasion a lot, reminding you that there are only like 7 episodes out right now. Last Saturday I had an Invasion-athon with my mom and I realized I’m really okay with the timeskip…if not for my love for Blue Beetle and Impulse, I’m not sure if I’d still be that okay with it. Not to mention the frustration that Superboy is constantly hogging the screen (not that I don’t like it, but really, other characters need some development). Another thing I don’t like about Invasion is how rapidly they’re throwing in characters and tossing them out just as fast. Blue Beetle is really the only new character that got any development time on screen consistently, but I’m sure they’re going to give other characters a chance to shine in the later episodes.

I’m praying they really get into Tim. I don’t know if it’s my growing-up-with-Teen-Titans influence or the fact that I’m an obsessive Batfam fan and love Robins, but something that I always sort of expect is for Robin to be the leader, and the main character. Dick was a pretty huge character in season 1, but he never really actually got to lead the team on many missions (nor did he succeed), which really saddened me. Tim was great in episode 1, but that seemed to be his only episode with really any substantial lines. I really want Tim and Conner to start their friendship (but right now it seems like they’re pushing for BB/Superboy instead). And I just overall want more Tim time. And I wouldn’t mind seeing Lagoon Boy around either, but looks like he’ll be gone for awhile.

In the end, season 2 is mixed feelings for me. I’d be really sad if they did  yet another timeskip in season 3 (if there is one), because I feel like it’s unnecessary at this point.. There has been hardly any FLUFF (which season one had pretty much a little fluff per episode) and that’s the most disappointing thing to me. I just want to see the kids having fun and developing relationships and friendships again! They seem so busy…and the episodes almost seemed rushed in a way. Let’s hope they’ll be more lighthearted episodes on the way. (:
